We understand this is a big step! many before you have been in the same place. Because we see hundreds of patients like you each year, we're able to compile the most frequently asked questions below:
This is a major investment in your health. Typically, most people do not go only by price when chosing a medical procedure. Our fees reflect the doctor's expertise, overall clinical and aesthetic quality, precision, and fit. From time to time, due to the volume of cases, our vendors extend rebates which we pass on to our patients in the form of fee savings. Most of our patients take advantage of savings, combined with flexible finance terms through one of our lenders. We work with most of our patients to fit the treatment in their budget, so we're confident we can help you afford this life-changing procedure!
When it comes to dental implant treatment there is very little coverage on the part of dental insurance. Typically dental insurance companies have exclusions, missing teeth clauses, and other obstacles to making this treatment affordable - they don't even cover the CT scan required to diagnose and plan the case. Some medical insurances will occasionally pay for some of the ancillary treatment under extraordinary circumstances (like the presence of life-threatening disease), but overall they do not see dental procedures as medically necessary. This is unfortunate, which is why we have chosen to not participate with any insurance plan. It is a lot easier and affordable to present a global case fee in order to make the treatment affordable for patients.
Every person is different, and there are many physiological factors that determine healing time after surgery. Typically, patients that follow post-operative instructions are able to resume normal activity within 24-48 hours. The surgical site can continue to heal for anywhere between 3 to 6 months after surgery, which is why we recommend several post-op visits and give you special instructions. Our proven clinical process during and after implant surgery offers the best path to achieving treatment success!
Whether the procedure is called "FiXedNewTeeth", 'All-on-x", "implant dentures" or something else, it is basically the same clinical concept: Dental Implants repalce missing teeth roots, and a manufactured prosthesis is attached permanently to them (it doesn't come in and out), thus mimicking the form and function of natural teeth. In extensive clinical research, dental implants are shown to have a very high success rate between 95% and 98% (higher than anything artifical we put in the human body); whereas the sucess rate of implant supported prosthesis (the teeth part) can vary between 75% and 97% depending on health, habits, maintenance etc (source: public ADA research library). With reasonable care, professional maintenance, and absent abnormalities a patient can expect a dental implant restoration to last comparably the same as natural teeth or other fixed dental restorations (anywhere between 2-3 years and a lifetime). In our office, we equip our patients with the tools and knowledge to take care of their new teeth so they can last a lifetime.
